POLLY (PIPPI) NORTON

I would feel completely unfulfilled if my career was
posing in front of a camera!

I have with me the beautiful Polly Norton from North West London’s Kentish Town. I’ve met a few artists in my time but when I first saw you and your work I knew I was on to something special. Lucky enough you’re gorgeous, so I knew you was ideal for this site. I’m not really talented, so I’ve always wondered how people find their talents and know what path they want to take in life. Maybe If I ask you a few questions I’ll be able to go and find my own talents, I could be an artist as well, who knows.

BWB - This site is about beauty and brains. We all know you got the beauty, so tell us what your doing with your life or ambitions to show us all you have the brains too?
PIPPI - Aww, you’re too kind! Well to be honest I wouldn't refer to it as brains, more like talent. I'm not going to pretend that I’m Einstein or anything but I’m just an up and coming artist who specialises in illustration. I’m only 19 and I’ve been really throwing myself at every opportunity I get by working hard and refining my talent. I’ve done some commission work for a few UK music artists. Some of my recent projects have included artwork for ‘Master Shorties’ video, watch out for that on MTV soon. I love what I do, I get great satisfaction from doing a piece if it looking amazing and of course with every piece you get better, well, I have too. The art industry is hugely competitive. I have been studying graphics at The University of the Arts London (LCC) and now I’m going on to study illustration at University of Loughborough. I’ve also done work for other UK artists and I’ll should soon be collaborating with amazing fashion designer, Emma Bell, illustrating on her new London Fashion week 08 collection. I can’t wait for what the future holds. (check my work out after at www.myspace.com/pppolly)
.
BWB - Has this been your dreams since you was a little girl?
PIPPI - I’ve always loved drawing from an early age of 3. I would draw my whole family and they would always ended up looking like snow men with Edward Scissor hands! LOL, then when I reached secondary school and my drawing skills had developed from the felt pens and crayon, I remember the boys in my year always begging me to draw naked girls in there diaries. So yes, I was sure I’d be doing something creative but I don’t think I’ll ever take it as seriously as I do now.

BWB - Can you see yourself doing anything else?
PIPPI - Well, I’ve done little modelling but, that’s never something I would consider for a career. I would feel completely unfulfilled if my career was posing in front of a camera. Don’t get me wrong I have many interests, which I hope to dabble into. Why limit yourself? Then again there are all artistic, because I can’t see me suddenly deciding to be a weather girl or anything. LOL.

BWB - Where do you want to be in the next 10 years?
PIPPI - Hmm lets think...I’ll be 29, after building up a successful career, I hope I’ve had my first child with an ambitious, reliable and gorgeous husband, also be able to work from my beautiful apartment in either Tokyo, New York or London. Oh, I really want to have a Jacuzzi on my roof. How cool would that be? I hope to of met a few of my idols that you probably won’t know; izima karou, swoon, takashi murakami and miss van, (absolutely AMAZING artist/photographers).

BWB - Does your family support you to reaching your dreams?
PIPPI - Yeah, mum really believes in me, we’re really close. I have a lot to thank her for, because now I’m going places, it’s made her really proud of. Especially since I was going through a rough patch a couple of years ago. She has always been patient with me. I think she would support me in anything I wanted to do. In fact last month I painted my characters all over my walls and she didn’t even shout at me, now if that’s not support I don’t know what is! I’m moving out in like 2 weeks though I don’t know how I’m going to cope without her!
.
BWB - I’m sure you’ve had a few male friends, are your parents strict on you bringing boyfriends home?
PIPPI - No, some of my best friends are guys! My mum is pretty cool, I tell her everything. She has no need to be strict. We trust each other. When I’m seeing a guy I always introduce them to my mum early on, we just have that kind of a relationship. However I think if my dad still lived with us things would be different.

BWB - Have you ever been in love?
PIPPI - Yes, I think so. My ex, although we aren’t together anymore I care for him a hell of a lot. I always will. What do you think love is?It’s hard to say, I think there are different degrees of love. For me it’s when you can’t help but forgive, you want to stay mad but u cant, when they smile it makes you smile, it’s like a strange connection.
.
BWB - How have you balanced you pass relationships and staying focus?
PIPPI - When I was doing my A-Levels I was having a hard time with an ex which really messed my concentration levels up. But at the end of the day I still did really well and we are still friends so I’ve got no time for regret. But at the moment when I have boy troubles it gives me a bit of a kick up the ass... gets my adrenalin pumping! If anything, I think I work harder when I’m angry

BWB - Why did you end with your previous relationship?
PIPPI - Ha Ha, I thought this was about beauty and brains not my dating history! Well, me and him still talk a lot and I am very stubborn, there’s no way I can answer that question in a nice, unbiased way without blaming him for everything! So I’m just going to ignore it and tell you that we are good now so it doesn’t matter!

BWB - Do you enjoyed to be wined and dined or do you think that’s old fashioned?
PIPPI - No I love food! & I love wine!
.
BWB - Honestly, have you found a guy sexy and you just had a one night stand?
PIPPI - No, I’ve never slept with anyone I met that night. I’m not anti one night stand, we’re all human. I just have had a lot of long relationships. I’m only young I’ve got a lot of my life ahead of me, plus you cheeky git! My Gran Dad might find this!
.
BWB - What been your biggest mistakes in your life?
PIPPI - I've made many. But everything has turned out fine. I just need to learn not to trust the wrong people; I think that’s my biggest downfall.
.
BWB - Finally. What puts a smile on your face?
PIPPI -
My little brothers (which I have not seen in ages), my sister, getting people messaging me on Myspace who truly love my work (my smile is even bigger when their famous people that I admire, I will name no names just check my Myspace out !)
